22d Congress, 1st Session. [ Rep. No 230] Ho. of Reps. Tennessee-Vacant Lands. January 24, 1832. Mr. Wickliffe, from the Committee on the Public Lands, to whom the subject had been referred, made the following Report: The Committee on the Public Lands, to whom the subject of the Tennessee vacant lands was referred, report: The Committee on the Public Lands were instructed to inquire into the expediency of ceding to the State of Tennessee “the refuse lands south and west of the congressional reservation line in said State.” The subject has been examined by the committee, and the following views are presented as the result of that examination. The State of North Carolina, in the month of December, 1789, by an act of her legislature, and by her deed of cession of February, 1790, ceded to the United States the territory now constituting the State of Tennessee, making in said deed certain reservations; amon which are the following: etc. 25 pages as many are uncut, this document remains relatively intact as to when it was printed and distributed. First 8 pages are toned but rest of interior and back pages are much lighter in tone. Contains crude ‘map drawing of 12th district’ and its divisions. A rare item.

34th Congress, 1st Session} House of Representatives {Mis. Doc. No. 116. School Lands in Nebraska. Memorial of the Legislature of Nebraska Territory, Praying that settlers on section 16 and 36, reserved for school purposes, be allowed to retain the same, and that commissioners be appointed to select other lands in lieu thereof, in all the townships where said lands are thus improved. 2 numbered pages, front and back. Some edge tears and light tone and fold at the top right corner.

1856-Nebraska Territory Schools

35th Congress, 1st Session. } House of Representatives. { Report No. 362. Benjamin Wakefield. [To accompany Bill H. R. No. 547.] May 4, 1858. Mr. Davis, of Massachusetts, from the Committee on Naval Affairs, made the follow Report. The Committee on Naval Affairs, to whom was referred the memorial of Benjamin Wakefield, have had the same under consideration and submit the following report: The petition of the memorialist, Benjamin Wakefield, is, that he be allowed the difference of pay between that of a master’s mate and boatswai, while performing the duties of the latter grade on board the United States ship “Preble.” In an affidavit attached to his petition he eposeth that he entered the navy of the United States, at the Navy-yard at Brooklyn, New York, on the 24th of June, 1846;…0n 15th August…he was transferred to the Preble and asked to perform as boatswain. He was discharged from the Preble, January 19, 1850 after a trip to the Pacific station and now having acquired a sickness…Some edge tears and slight loss of paper at bottom corner, not affecting text and pencil notations by other hand. Great for relatives of Benjamin Wakefield!
