Rare books from living authors can be bought in the present time, under the category of modern first editions, buying first edition signed books from living authors is not a bad investment. Keep the books safe and IMMEDIATELY cover the dust cover with a mylar or 'plastic' protection sheet that can be purchased from: Vernon just one of the many Library suppliers to help protect your valuable books.
The author we found is Derek Robinson,

who is English and is selling his books directly and you can purchase them from him, signed and limited edition directly, how cool is that? Stock pile a few and buy and ordinary one for reading in case you spill your coffee on it or the kids take the good old crayola to the pages. Don't you wish you had bought Harry Potter or Ian Fleming's books when they were first published? Now granted, prices don't usually go up dramatically until after the death of an author (Derek we hope you live a very long time!) but all it takes is a good PBS or BBC series and POW! The price goes up dramatically! Like good wines, books like Derek's must be bought young and stored! Antiquarian books they will become. Just keep them away from Water (damp or direct), Fire or excessive heat (don't store in your hot attic), keep them out of direct sunlight (as it bleaches the dust cover) and keep them away from the kids and their crayons!
